EXPERIENCE
I first experienced Yoga at the age
of 16, and continued with the practice during College and University life. I
began to train and teach Yoga in 2000. I have been teaching for 10 years which
has given me ample opportunity to work with students of varying ages and
abilities.
I am influenced by various styles of Yoga especially Ashtanga Vinyasa
and Jivamukti. My style of teaching is to incorporate a dynamic practice with a
balance of more meditative practices such as Pranayama and Yoga nidra.
CURRENT TEACHING POSTS
I currently own and run a Yoga centre near Sozopol in Bulgaria where I organize Yoga and Activity holidays over the Summer months from May until October. This involves teaching to a wide range of nationalities, different abilities and also different styles of Yoga which makes for a fulfilling experience for both myself and the students. The Yoga holidays also incorporate other complimentary activities such as Art Tuition, Pilates, Live Music, Horse Riding and Water Sports on the local beach. I have run these Activity Holidays successfully for seven years with many guests returning year after year. I also run numerous private classes and do one to one tuition with private individuals. I also run specific Yoga & Art Holidays from the 4 star Green Life Resort in Sozopol, and also at a base in Rudnik near Burgas.
PREVIOUS TEACHING
POSTS
I have taught at Chiva Som Health Resort in Thailand, which is regularly voted the world’s best Health Spa Resort and is often visited by well known actors, celebrities, journalists and presenters.
This involved teaching group sessions, one to one, and also teaching staff members in the resort.
I have worked for Brampton Manor, which
is the leading Health & Leisure Club in Chesterfield, and have also worked
for Chesterfield College, North East Derbyshire County Council, Chesterfield
Borough Council and North East Derbyshire Health Authority.
This has involved delivering Yoga Classes to the Local Community. On every occasion the feedback was very positive, with
all students enjoying and gaining benefit from the experience.
FURTHER TRAINING
I also regularly attend workshops.
The most recent being with John Scott, Liz Lark, Lino Miele and Brian Cooper. I
feel that it is important for me and my students to gain experience from a wide variety of teachers, which deepends my knowledge and broadens my horizons. It is also allows self reflection
to maximise ones potential as a Yoga Teacher for the ultimate benefit of my students.
YOGA & TRAVEL
One of my passions in life is to
travel & luckily I have been able to travel extensively to many different Countries, enabling me
to interact with local communities, through my Yoga, as well as meeting other travellers. This
has given me the opportunity to use my knowledge and skills to gain many
friends and acquaintances throughout the World. One of the most memorable experiences teaching Yoga, was on a ship in the
Indian Ocean en-route to Zanzibar where I taught the Mexican
Ambassador and his wife on deck !
